anyone care for a spot of tea?

Many thanks the dedicated wedding planners that peeled themselves away from the TV to attend the Wedding Planner's Tea Party on the scenic Rooftop high above the San Diego Natural History Museum during the Charger's playoff game (in retrospect, anyone who watched the game knows they were probably better off not watching!!)

Thrown by Kate Capshaw of Resolusean Photography and Events, elegantly decorated by Dawn Stone with Embellishmint Floral and Event Design, and deliciously catered by our chefs here at Culinary Concepts, the event was a great success!    Photos courtesy of Sean Capshaw at Resolusean.

Fun holiday parties at the Culy Warehouse!

What happens when amazing lighting, chic, modern furniture, authentic casino tables, and a fun, funky downtown location meet? Well, MAGIC for one.  The following are images from 2 back-to-back out-of-the-park successful holiday parties we put together this month.  The guests were overjoyed, the clients were ecstatic, and we just stood back and took it all in....

Cooking 101!

The lovely ladies from Destination Concepts took the afternoon off for some food, wine and holiday fun.  Chefs Manfred, Chris and Andres kindly led a cooking class, instructing on everything from frying to searing, puff pastry to salad greens, all while prepping an amazing meal (luckily I got to sample the goods!).  The ladies got their hands dirty, taking turns grilling shrimp, whisking dressings, pureeing soup & enjoying the holiday spirit!

Here's a really simple yet delicious fresh fruit dessert the ladies learned to make:
SEASONAL FRUITS WITH HONEY, VINEGAR AND BASIL
  • Sliced Fresh Seasonal Fruits (we recommend strawberries, raspberries or peaches)
  • ½ cup Fine Vinegar of choice (Balsamic is great!)
  • ½ cup Honey
  • Torn Fresh Basil Leaves
  • Blend the honey and vinegar together
  • Drizzle over fruit and stir in basil
  • Serve with whipped crème, shortbread cookies, biscuits or pound cake!

a sampling of the HOLIDAY CHEER we have received!!

we must have been good this year!
  • "Please know that I send extra special thanks to you, and the Culinary Concepts staff that assisted MFCU with our December Holiday Meeting.   As you know, we simplified things this year, and stayed onsite… but I must tell you, the food was the best we’ve had in years at this annual event.   A number of staff raved about the menu - from everything to your salads and main dishes, to the chocolate shavings for the coffee. They were truly happy.  Thank you for putting a great menu together, for being so accommodating to our timeline, and to your servers; Jeff, Dan and Jaime.  It was a pleasure to work with such helpful, kind and professional staff. Last but not least, cheers to those staff in the kitchen cooking up your delightful food. You all helped make our event a success!!!"

Corinne Morash, Mission Federal Credit Union

  • "Once again, you guys came through with flying colors! Today’s lunch was wonderful – beautifully presented and great tasting.  Best wishes for the holidays!"
Eric Cohen, DriveCam Inc.
  • "I just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work. It paid off! the food was great, I got lots of kudos on that, and there was enough, hooray! The server was very professional and kept everything looking good. Thanks again for helping out with this event, and we'll keep you all in mind for the future."

Party in the Tropics! Warm party photos for a cool day....

A recent client wanted to turn the already 'beachy' Scripps Seaside Forum into a tropical paradise.  The combination of decorative lighting, lush plants and centerpieces, fun linens, and a thematic menu brought their dreams to life.  Voila!!

So you want a beachside wedding?

It doesn't get much better than this!  The Robert Paine Scripps Seaside Forum is totally amazing, and Kelly & Kevin were a great couple to work with on our first wedding there.  With coordination by Melissa at I Do Weddings, beautiful florals by Jennifer Cole Florals, and excellent photography by Melissa Koehler Photography, and of course Culinary Concepts' fine cuisine, how could you go wrong?
